Fulcrum Labs has just been named a Cool Tool Award winner by EdTech Digest in the Best Professional Skills Solution category.

Here’s a snippet from our award-winning entry with our partners, the Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM):

AIM is a career school that helps 3,500+ learners/year pursue credentials in aviation maintenance technology. In order to keep its FAA accreditation and better serve students, AIM must maintain minimum pass rates on the FAA’s certification exams. But a few of AIM’s campuses were beginning to fall below the minimum for the written portion of the exams and many students didn’t feel confident enough to sit for the exams.

AIM partnered with Fulcrum Labs to develop an online, test-prep program to prepare students for career-critical FAA mechanic certification exams. The resulting adaptive learning course helped AIM students master key competencies needed to pass the written FAA certification exams and improved their test-taking confidence.

According to AIM Vice President, Dr. Joel English: “The results have been exceptional.” AIM achieved its primary goal through this program – increasing pass rates on FAA aircraft mechanic’s written certifications 14%, from 79% to 90%:

95% pass rate – FAA General written certification

94% pass rate – FAA Airframe written certification

86% pass rate –FAA Powerplant written certification

25% more learners felt confident enough to sit for the FAA exam after prepping with this course

AIM recently demonstrated the course to the FAA, who was “blown away” by the initiative, innovation and success of the program.

“The FAA Aircraft Mechanic Certifications are truly make or break exams for these students,” said Patrick Weir, Fulcrum CEO. “Students who pass have greater opportunities for advancement and are poised to make as much as $80,000 more per year than their peers. That means that we’re making a real impact in the lives and futures of these students, and we’re honored to be recognized by EdTech for this important work.”
